sleepless in the chi

I am running in a race (Kingdom 5K @ CCC) in a few short days.  I have been training since…well who knows when.  I started working with a personal trainer (since November) at my favorite gym in the entire universe (XSport!) to prepare for the Parkersburg Half Marathon in late August.  I have also purchased a new pair of running shoes (about a month ago) and feel that they are properly and sufficiently broken in.

What I want to know is why in the world, if I am running running running, playing with lucy AND penelope, and taking care of pops am I unable to sleep at night?  I don’t think I’m nervous about the race – heck it’s a 5k I could run it in my sleep.  But at this rate I will be sleeping during this race if something doesn’t change!

I’m not even tired :’(

I miss my horse!

The weather has been uncooperative for the past 6 months – aka it’s winter and I hate winter.

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is go to the barn and hang out with Penelope, Lucia and all the other lovely horses. Unfortunately it has been up and down in the negative temps and then all this ice that it makes it nearly impossible to go and spend some quality time with the horses.

I was thinking how nice it would be for Alin and I to live somewhere warm, and there was a time I wanted to live in Virginia. I revisited that desire while surfing through some blogs and I stumbled across Katie M who has been to Assateague Island where the infamous wild horses run (I suppose you could run with them but I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own horse at a walk when she’s loose).

Katie M, you’re lucky that you got to go to such a warm place and hang out with the horses. Next time you’re there Penelope and I will meet up with you!

Downloading ringtones

I think we all need to face the fact that you can only deal with boring factory installed ring-tones, which is why I have downloaded The Office ringtone onto my phone.

Call me! You’ll probably have to call twice because I’ll listen to the song the first time you dial in :)

New Job

Yep, I got a new job!

I am the proud new worker at Community Christian Church. I am working for the Media and Technology Department. Job description:

Recruit volunteers to help in the tech booth for services.

Sit in on creativity brain-storming meetings to help come up with the next “big idea” for our services and ministries.

Clean, organize, and otherwise perfect the tech booth including organizing cables, tying them together, reorganizing the cables/mics/lamps/amps/ etc in the booth and behind stage.

Running lights when I am needed/not doing something else for a service.

I will also be trained as the following:

Service Producer (something like a director)

Sound Engineer

Camera Engineer

Video Editing

My job also requires other various administrative tasks:

Updating volunteer database

Cataloging video files

Emailing 8 million people to get our info included on the weekly programs

And last but not least – eating breathing living sleeping excercizing Godly creativity – in other words – helping to spread the Gospel through technology in any manner possible (minus anything illegal or immoral)

This should prove to be as challenging as it will be rewarding

my blog is better than yours

I came across this while at work today. I would SO love to say some of these to the people that call!!!

THINGS YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR FROM TECH SUPPORT

* “Do you have a sledgehammer or a brick handy?”

* “That’s right, not even McGyver could fix it.”

* “So — what are you wearing?”

* “Duuuuuude! Bummer!”

* “Looks like you’re gonna need some new dilithium crystals, Cap’n.”

* “Press 1 for Support. Press 2 if you’re with 60 Minutes. Press 3 if you’re with the FTC.”

* “We can fix this, but you’re gonna need a butter knife, a roll of duct tape, and a car battery.”

* “In layman’s terms, we call that the Hindenburg Effect.”

* “Hold on a second… Mom! Timmy’s hitting me!”

* “Okay, turn to page 523 in your copy of Dianetics.”

* “Please hold for Mr. Gates’ attorney.”

confession

i am sorry (i think) to confess the following:

i am addicted to coke. it started off as just a little hit. i had some, it satisfied me. then i found myself wanting it more and more. not just once a day mind you. when i get up, when i have a meal, when i’m just relaxing. the coke monster sits on my shoulder and spurs me on and on into this spiraling addiction. is there any hope, any end to this dark tunnel of insatiable coke cravings?

by the way i’m talking about coke the drink not the drug, although caffeine is a legal addictive stimulant…..

day one of who knows how many

so i was referred to wordpress by a friend…i’m not really into blogging but who knows maybe i’ll like this one….

eventually i’ll be leaving wordpress and making a blog site of my own (from scratch!!) maybe you all will join me??
